We build outdoor kitchens together with our partner, Amazing Outdoors Miami, a stone and masonry company in Cutler Bay. Amazing Outdoors Miami builds the masonry base, stone countertops and stone walls. We handle the equipment, cabinets and the rest of the project. The cooking station
Built-in grills can be gas, charcoal or a combination, set into a masonry base or a stainless steel frame. Side burners, flat-top griddles and smoker boxes can be added.
Countertops
We use granite, porcelain tile and architectural concrete for outdoor countertops.
Cabinets
Regular kitchen cabinets swell, warp and rust outside. Outdoor kitchens get stainless steel or powder-coated aluminum cabinets made for outdoor use.
Refrigeration and sinks
Outdoor-rated refrigerators, beverage coolers and ice makers can be built into the kitchen. A sink is plumbed in during construction, so the supply and drain lines are part of the build from the start.
Planning
Every project starts with a site visit to look at the space, where the gas, water and electrical lines are, how the area drains, and what permits are needed from your city, or from Miami-Dade County if you are in an unincorporated area.
Materials that hold up outside
Humidity, strong sun and salt air near the coast break down cabinets and countertops made for indoor kitchens. Outdoor kitchens need materials rated for outdoor use.
Gas, electrical and plumbing
Gas lines, electrical work and plumbing have to be done by properly licensed trades and usually need permits and inspections.
Where to put it
An outdoor kitchen works best close enough to the house to carry food back and forth, with the grill placed to keep its manufacturer's required clearances from walls and overhangs. Cover from a pergola or roof makes it usable in the rain.
