Every regular maintenance visit includes mowing, edging along all walkways, driveways and curbs, weed eating everywhere the mowers can't reach, trimming all hedges, small hedge plants and shrubs, cutting the dead growth off the plants, and pulling the weeds out of the plants, planter beds and mulch. We also spray herbicide to keep the property weed-free. Before we leave, we blow off the entire property and haul away everything we cut, along with the debris.

UF/IFAS recommends waiting until 30 to 50 percent of the lawn shows signs of needing water: folded leaf blades, a blue-gray color, or footprints that stay in the grass. Then put down 1/2 to 3/4 inch of water. During the rainy season, from about mid-May to mid-October, rain often covers most of it.
It depends on the yard. In the UF/IFAS guide Selecting a Turfgrass for Florida Lawns, St. Augustinegrass and zoysiagrass both have good salt tolerance and good shade tolerance. Bahiagrass and centipedegrass do best in acidic soil and can have micronutrient problems in high-pH soil, and most soil in Miami-Dade is alkaline. Close to salt water, seashore paspalum has excellent salt tolerance, but it does poorly in shade.
Usually, yes. Florida law exempts chickees built by the Miccosukee or Seminole Tribe from the building code, but a tiki hut built by a contractor has to meet the Florida Building Code and usually needs a permit from your city, or from Miami-Dade County if you are in an unincorporated area. We help with the permit on the tiki huts we build.
Usually, if it has a gas line, electrical work or plumbing. Requirements depend on your city, or on Miami-Dade County if you are in an unincorporated area.
Hurricane season starts June 1. Before then, have dead branches and weak or crossing limbs removed. Do not cut the green fronds off palms. UF/IFAS says palms cut back hard were more likely to snap in the wind. Only fully brown fronds should come off.
Sod can go in any time of year in Miami-Dade. New sod needs regular watering until the roots take hold, especially in hot, dry weather.
Travertine, concrete and porcelain pavers are all used around pools. The choice usually comes down to the look you want, your budget and how the surface feels underfoot. Good base preparation and sealing matter as much as the paver itself.
A bed refresh or new sod on a typical home can often be done in a day. A full redesign can take several days. We give you a timeline with your estimate.
